Wishes Granted
Every wish we grant creates a moment of joy, dignity, and connection. Here are some of the seniors and veterans whose lives have been touched by your generosity.
Juanita — Our Very First Wish
Juanita’s wish was to celebrate her 94th birthday at the Oregon coast with her close family — a place that holds special memories for her. Thanks to the generosity of our donors.
Juanita — Our Very First Wish
Wish: Birthday celebration at the Oregon coast
Juanita’s wish was to celebrate her 94th birthday at the Oregon coast with her close family — a place that holds special memories for her.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Senior Wish Makers granted our very first wish by sending Juanita and her family to Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach for a two-night stay.
They spent time together enjoying the ocean air, sharing meals, and creating memories their family will cherish for years to come.
This first wish reminds us why we exist — to bring joy, connection, and unforgettable moments to seniors.
Bob — Back to the Shop
At 88, Bob loves spending time in his shop, fixing things and lending a hand to neighbors. But health and mobility challenges made it dangerous for him to get down the stairs.
Bob — Back to the Shop
Wish: Ramp to safely access his shop
At 88, Bob loves spending time in his shop, fixing things and lending a hand to neighbors. But health and mobility challenges made it dangerous for him to get down the stairs. Each trip came with the risk of a serious fall, and his family worried about his safety.
Thanks to our donors and Amramp of Portland, a sturdy metal ramp with handrails was installed from his deck to the ground.
Now Bob can get to his shop with confidence and keep doing what he loves most.
This ramp isn’t just about access — it’s a pathway to freedom, safety, and peace of mind for Bob and his family.

LaVette — Crocheting Kindness for Veterans
Wish: Yarn to create lap blankets for veterans
LaVette has a special mission: to crochet lap blankets for veterans in wheelchairs. For her, every stitch is a way to honor those who served and let them know they are not forgotten.
When the cost of yarn began to limit how many blankets she could create, LaVette shared her wish with us. Thanks to our donors, she received a $500 gift certificate to her favorite yarn shop.
Now LaVette can continue creating handmade blankets that bring comfort and gratitude to veterans throughout our community.
Jack — Our First Veteran Wish
When 77-year-old Navy veteran Jack’s refrigerator stopped working, it created a daily challenge that many take for granted. Living on a fixed income, replacing it simply wasn’t in his budget.
Jack — Our First Veteran Wish
Wish: New refrigerator
Veteran: U.S. Navy
When 77-year-old Navy veteran Jack’s refrigerator stopped working, it created a daily challenge that many take for granted. Living on a fixed income, replacing it simply wasn’t in his budget.
Senior Wish Makers stepped in to grant Jack’s wish — a simple but meaningful gift that brought comfort, stability, and peace of mind back into his home.
Jack’s wish marked our very first veteran wish granted — a proud milestone in our commitment to serving those who served.
Peggy — Staying Connected
Peggy is like a mom and grandma to everyone lucky enough to know her. At 83, she has spent her life working hard to provide for her family as a single mother of three, and never asks for anything in return.
Peggy — Staying Connected
Wish: Desktop computer
Peggy is like a mom and grandma to everyone lucky enough to know her. At 83, she has spent her life working hard to provide for her family as a single mother of three, and never asks for anything in return. When she first heard about Senior Wish Makers, she struggled to even consider asking for help. That’s just who she is — humble, selfless, and strong.
With only a broken phone that’s too small to type on or see clearly, Peggy had lost touch with the things that mattered most: connecting with her children and grandchildren, managing her healthcare, and keeping up with the world around her.
Having spent her career doing accounting on computers, Peggy knew exactly what she needed. Senior Wish Makers provided a basic desktop computer with a keyboard and monitor — giving her back her independence, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose.
For Peggy, this wasn’t just a computer — it was a lifeline.
Leola — A Fresh Start
Leola recently moved into a new senior living apartment with very little furniture of her own. She asked for a dresser to help her stay organized and make her new space feel more like home.
Leola — A Fresh Start
Wish: Dresser and soft purple towels
Leola recently moved into a new senior living apartment with very little furniture of her own. She asked for a dresser to help her stay organized and make her new space feel more like home.
Known for her caring and generous nature, Leola always looks out for those around her. With no family nearby and limited resources, she mentioned that soft purple towels would be an extra bonus — a small luxury she would truly enjoy.
Senior Wish Makers provided a sturdy dresser and a set of soft purple towels. These items help Leola feel comfortable, organized, and proud of her new home.
Andrew — A Safer Night's Sleep
Andrew lives independently in Tualatin, Oregon, managing daily life with mobility challenges following a below-the-knee amputation. On a limited income, he had learned to make do, but his 12-year-old bed had become unsafe and uncomfortable, often slipping off its frame and causing painful setbacks.
Andrew — A Safer Night's Sleep
Wish: Adjustable bed
Andrew lives independently in Tualatin, Oregon, managing daily life with mobility challenges following a below-the-knee amputation. On a limited income, he had learned to make do, but his 12-year-old bed had become unsafe and uncomfortable, often slipping off its frame and causing painful setbacks.
Despite his own challenges, Andrew still extends care to others. He supports Compassion International and has sponsored several children over the years.
Senior Wish Makers provided a twin-sized adjustable bed that brought Andrew the comfort and stability he needed.
Now Andrew enjoys safe, restorative nights and the peace of mind that comes with them.
